Fri Aug 28, 2009, 3:08 PM
Even though I don't have much traffic to my page (because I don't do anything overly spectacular), I've actually reached 3,000 views! Thank you so much to all who stopped by to look at my creations.

Holy shit! My last entry was December 24, 2008?! And it's already July 28, 2009?!?

Yeah. I totally lied.

Well, at least I'm here now. AND I actually have something to post.

Although, I think I'll be using my Cut Out + Keep account more. It's a lot more "home-y" than DeviantArt, in my opinion. So check me out there (when I post).

Three Reasons Why I Hate Going to the Movies

Wed Dec 24, 2008, 6:52 AM
1) Most of the movies that are out suck assholes. Period.
2) The bastards who don't turn off their cell phones during the movie.
3) Half of the movies out are adaptations to books and other forms of media, which were raped in the process of movie production.
4) WHITEWASHING.

Okay, so I listed four reasons, but actually, #1 can be integrated with #3, and #4 is a given reason of why #1 and #3 are happening. So, actually that'd make two reason.

So, as a last reason...

5) Too many hoodrats up at the Star Theatre and too many posers up at the Palladium.

Theater

Sorry. It's just so wierd for me to spell that word the U.S. way. I always spell it with "-tre".

But any...

Ever since this election, I've been at, "odds", with the whole idealogy of this country. Supposedly, this is the country of everybody's dream worldwide, but after seeing countless rallies during McCain's campaign with slack-jawed yokels spewing shit out of their mouths, saying that they weren't going to vote for Obama because he was a "monkey" and an "Arab", I remember how this country came to be.

And I don't have to give any examples, since I already reminded you of one up above (*hint hint* #4).

Gah!
Humans make me so infuriated!

Dunno if I'm going to be online tomorrow (to bitch, not to post the absent stuff that I haven't created), so in order to lighten up this whole post, Mary Axe Mass.

My Letter to Paramount

Mon Dec 22, 2008, 4:33 PM
It's a rough draft, but I think I get the point out.
~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~
To Ms. Kennedy and Mr. Marshall:

I am writing today in regard to the recently revealed casting for the upcoming Nickelodeon Film, “The Last Airbender.” Entertainment Weekly published an article revealing director M. Night Shyamalan’s hoped-for cast for the film, and I am not only offended, but disappointed by the decisions he and Paramount Pictures have made.

The Nickelodeon show “Avatar: The Last Airbender,” on which the film is based on, featured Asian and
Inuit characters in a fantasy setting inspired by not only East Asian and Inuit cultures, but by Mesoamerican, Middle Eastern (including North African), and Southeast Asian cultures. As a Black-American Indian, seeing an elemental television series that was inspired by a world other than medieval Europe enthralled me, and Avatar: The Last Airbender quickly became one of my most beloved television series. However, upon hearing that the main cast - who are Asian and Native American influenced - will be composed of Caucasians, I was flabbergasted.

Though I hold no bad thoughts toward the recommended actors and actress at hand, I am outraged that the director and Paramount would propose that non-white characters would be played by white actors. To me, this is no better than the casting of blackface, yellowface, and redface actors that portrayed African, Asian, and Native American characters in early movies, which are thought of as the archetypes of racial stereotypes today. This will not only allow Orientalism, discrimination, and ignorance to spread, but will also send the message that actors with predominate European ancestry can always play ethnic minorities, but the minorities themselves cannot. How can I tell my nephew, who is Afro-Asian, that he can do anything despite his bi-racial background if a Caucasian child is granted the role of an Asian Indian, or even an Afro-Asian? This proves that Hollywood is still discriminatory toward minorities in America, and this decision for the casting of a multi-ethnically influenced movie is a mockery to every race and ethnicity represented in it.

If Paramount Pictures continues to go forward with this cast, I will not be supporting this film, and I will encourage my friends and family to do the same.
Sincerely,

The Spirit Mage

M. Night you WHORE!!!! *waves fists*

Tue Dec 16, 2008, 6:34 AM
So, while we were having our annual bitching of society last night, Brandon decided to tell me of the atrocities of the casting of the Avatar movie.

All I had to hear was that Jesse McCartney was going to play Prince Zuko,

and I almost puked up my entrails.

M. Night Shyamalan.

You traitorous bastard.

Seriously. You're Indian.

Why is the main cast all white?!

The thing I liked about Avatar was that it wasn't influenced by any European culture (or at least wasn't majorly influenced by it). Why would you cast a tweenage pop star as an angsty, Asian-esque prince?!

Hell! His voice actor is fucking Filipino!

I'm fucking serious! I didn't want the cast to be all white! I wanted the Water Tribe to be Blacks/Native Americans/Black-Indians, and everybody else to be Asian/non-white, or at least very, VERY, multiracial.

No. I'm not racist. I'm fucking practical!

And Mike and Bryan...

How could you?

Even Peter Chung had the dignity to practicually say, "these fucktards raped my brainchild when they made it into a movie" when he saw the results of the movie version of Aeon Flux. Why are so pleased about this?! Why?! If you guys are pleased in the end - but your die-hard fans aren't - how will you feel? Guilty that you betrayed your fans, or at the most, happy that 10 billion tweenagers brought in $40 billion dollars on its opening weekend? If you feel the latter, YOU ARE WANKER SELL-OUTS.

People. It's all over.

If we allow producers and directors to rape and defame original media by making it into a fucking movie, it's all, fucking, over.

And watch how even though the fans will be pissed off, the non-fans - who just walk into any theatre on a given weekend just because they're bored out of their minds - are going to praise it like it's the best shit in the world.

Cuz that's all producers and directors care about.

They don't care if they kill the souls and the livlihood of devout fans who have been dedicated to this shit since day one of the series' birth. So long as there are twenty-times more average movie-goers than there are fans - and so long as it is a box-office hit - they don't care shit.

And for that reason, I hope A:TLA AND Star Trek are both box office failures.

END!

(I'm glad that I don't watch TV anymore after the series finale. Now I don't have to watch the trailers and TV Spots to these atrocities.)
